Responsible Dinnerware

While this option is a little bit more time intensive, providing reusable dinnerware at your regatta is ultimately the most environmentally friendly option you can provide your participants and attendees.

Sure, there’s some dishwashing involved, and a few forks and knives may wander off, but in the end, you can rest assured that no disposable plastic was used at your event. It’s also a far classier way to dine and you’re bound to receive a few compliments for that personal, homegrown feel.

Like with reusable water bottles, you could also consider purchasing reusable bamboo utensils for your participants to bring home. Some large sustainable events have the cost for a reusable mug and utensils built into their admission charges..

To fulfill this Best Practice do at least one of the following:

  • All single use dinnerware is recyclable or compostable. No Styrofoam.
  • Eliminate straws.
  • Eliminate 85% of single-use dinnerware, including plates, cups, and cutlery.
