Jeff Boyle - Sailors for the Sea

Jeff Boyle

“Taking care of the water we drink, and the literal home for millions of other creatures, is simply too important to ignore.”

Jeff is a native New Englander who grew up sailing a one-design racing dinghy from the 1960’s. They sailed “Tipsy II” in fresh and salt water, once taking her offshore to the islands of Casco Bay, Maine. Even as a young person, Jeff noticed trash and sewage being carelessly dumped into the water and knew this wasn’t right.

Now based in Chicago and raising a family around the fresh water of the Great Lakes, it’s more clear to him than ever that a healthy marine ecosystem is fundamental to the health of the communities nearby. As a member of Columbia Yacht Club’s Conservation Committee, he has supported harbor cleanups and the Alliance for the Great Lakes. This organization is waging a multi-prong fight to protect the lakes through community education and activities, plus advancing regional and national legislation.

Jeff regularly crews on regattas in Chicago and sails with family and friends on his personal vessel, always prioritizing the health of the Great Lakes he sails on.
