Our Ocean Heroes - Sailors for the Sea

Our Ocean Heroes

 September 10, 2015  | By: Oceana

You probably expected this to be about one of the icons of ocean conservation…it’s not. It’s about our incredible supporters! Our biggest heroes! It’s their dedication to the ocean and belief in our ability to make meaningful impact that inspires us everyday.

So far this year our donors have made great things happen!

Not every student is given the opportunity to learn about the ocean in their classroom, but we need ocean literate youth to understand the issues facing our blue planet so they can take action to protect it.

Thanks to our supporters…

We live on a planet with one big, blue, beautiful ocean that holds 97% of our water. As sailors, boaters and just plain ocean enthusiasts, we all share an affinity for life on, in, under and around the water. A clean and healthy ocean is what we all hope for, and through and Clean Regattas sailors are taking action to protect the waters they love.

Thanks to our supporters…

  • 33,000 boaters have helped make the places they sail cleaner, healthier and safer
  • 151 regattas (and counting!) have implemented best practices
  • 67 international events have used the Clean Regattas program
