Rule 55 - Sailors for the Sea

Rule 55

 January 23, 2014  | By: Oceana

Since the instatement of rule 55, a debate has formed over whether or not sail ties should be allowed to go over board. Marine debris is a pervasive problem throughout the earth’s waters and an important part of our mission to educate boaters about this issue and how to reduce their impact.

This month, North Sails announced the creation of STOP TABS which provide green-minded and rule-compliant sailors an option for launching a spinnaker with nothing going overboard!

As it is often said, necessity is the mother of invention, and we are excited that protecting the environment has created an innovative idea!
