Clean Regatta liaison Jack Seitzinger has launched a clean boating campaign at the Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, Texas. This includes running the Clean Regattas program, an essay contest about clean boating and removing marine debris from Galveston Bay.

Clean Regatta Best Practices implemented at the regatta include:

  • Establishing a Green Team
  • Paper Reduction
  • Non-Toxic cleaning products  (Boats were given Shaklee non-toxic cleaning samples)
  • Disposable Water Bottle Reduction
  • Waste Reduction & Recycling
  • Gathering Metrics

A great addition to the best practices, participants were given reusable bags to be used for groceries, shopping, and some sailors suggested beach clean ups!
