David Landers - Sailors for the Sea

David Landers

David’s passion for marine conservation is best demonstrated through his lifelong engagement with the ocean. He is a sailor with lifelong experience offshore racing and cruising, and more than 10 years of professional experience as a Yachtmaster Offshore Instructor and yacht charter skipper. Currently, David is a member of the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron (RSYS), Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA), Ocean Racing Club of Victoria (ORCV), and a ‘Life Member’ of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC). Through building an ocean-climate technology company, developing plastic recycling social businesses in the Philippines, and decades as a passionate sailor and diver across the Asia Pacific, he has witnessed at close range the widespread and rapidly accelerating degradation of our ocean habitats. As sailors, we cannot just be takers; we must give back with impact. Marine conservation has now become an intrinsic part of what constitutes good seamanship and what it means to be a ‘sailor’.
