Emma Janson - Sailors for the Sea

Emma Janson

“I am passionate about coastal and ocean conservation because it is the intersection of our coastal spaces, science, and people – it is a complex field that allows you to connect with places and people in so many different ways and I find that fascinating and inspiring.”

Emma is based out of Burlington, VT and is currently an Environmental Analyst for the Lake Champlain Basin Program and the Assistant Coach for the University of Vermont Sailing team. She has a B.S. in Fisheries Biology from the University of Vermont and an M.A. in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island, where she focused on marine debris during her graduate studies. Emma is an avid inshore and offshore sailor and works hard to bring ocean and coastal conservation principles into the sailing she does. Emma aims to protect and conserve coastal spaces so that everyone has a chance to experience everything they have to offer.
